The LuWOW - Tiki Bar Melbourne Review

It's Valentine's Day Feb 14th 2023, our first visit to the famous LuWOW Tiki Bar in Melbourne also coincided with our 4th Valentine's Day together.

Before we entered we were greeted with large carved wooden Tiki's and the stunning LuWOW sign out the front so we knew we were definitely in the right place. Ascending the stairs we were welcomed with 50's-60's Tiki inspired music, plenty of bamboo, island drums, Tiki masks and carvings and just about everything a Tiki Bar should have.

We were a bit early for our reservation, however the staff were more than friendly and accommodating, offering us a seat at the bar before being whisked off to a cozy booth for two.

Our friendly and enthusiastic server talked us through the massive cocktail menu before we settled on a Painkiller (Geoff) and a Bikini Bottom (Lauri). The drinks arrived quickly served in glasses with all the tropical garnishing you'd expect from a Tiki Bar Cocktail. - the only thing missing was them being served in a Tiki Mug - although they did have a small selection of mugs for sale near the front entrance.

Although the Tacos were tempting, we decided on "Chilaquiles" (Yucatan style nachos with Chicken Asado topped with melted cheese plus salsas, sour cream and pickles) and "Patatas Bravas" (spiced mini roast potatoes with sour cream dip) from the limited food menu. The food also arrived quickly and although it was quite dimly lit where we were sitting and we couldn't quite see what we were eating, the food was quite tasty and just enough to enjoy with the cocktails.

Overall we had a great night, the Tiki vibe was definitely strong, service was extremely friendly and quick, the drinks and food was on point and the atmosphere was ROMANTICALLY TIKI.

 - 4.5 stars from us - the 5th Star would have been if we were drinking our cocktails from a Tiki Mug!

If you are in Melbourne or are travelling to the CBD we suggest you dropping in for a cocktail (or two) and a bite to eat whilst drinking in the atmosphere of a traditional style Tiki Bar.
